Vishnu Sahastranam Sloka 8

ईशान: प्राणद: प्राणो ज्येष्ठ: श्रेष्ठ: प्रजापति: ।
हिरण्यगर्भो भूगर्भो माधवो मधुसूदन: ॥

ईशानः :- जो सबके नियंता हैं / जो सभी पञ्च तत्वों के नियंता हैं

प्राणदः :- जो प्राण देने वाले हैं

प्राणः :- जो प्राण स्वरुप हैं

ज्येष्ठः :- जो सबसे बड़े हैं

श्रेष्ठः :- जो श्रेष्ठ हैं

प्रजापति :- जो समस्त प्रजा के स्वामी हैं

हिरण्यगर्भः :- जो अंडाकार ब्रह्माण्ड रुपी गर्भ के भीतर में स्थित हैं

भूगर्भ :- जो पृथ्वी के गर्भ हैं

माधवो :- जो लक्ष्मी पति हैं

मधुसूदनः :- जिन्होंने मधु नामक दैत्य का संहार किया है


Eeshanah: The controller of the five great elements/The Controller
Praanadah: He who gives the breath/essence of life/ Who activates the Prana
Praano: He who himself is essence/breath of life/ He who himself is vital force, the Prana/ He who ever lives
Jyeshthah: Older than all
Shreshthah: One who is most glorious and eminent
Prajaapatih: The Lord of all living creatures
Hiranyagarbhah: He who dwells in the womb of the egg shaped Brahmand (universe)
Bhoogarbhah: He who is the womb of the Earth/ from whom the world has emerged out
Maadhavah: Husband of Lakshmi/Lord of Maya OR Who is experienced with Madhu Technique
Madhusoodanah: Destroyer of the Madhu demon
